Gary Burris & Beth Schilling

Gary Burris is the Executive Director of the Child Care Action Council. He oversees 59 full-time staff and a budget of $3.9 million to provide early learning professional and parent supports over a six-county region. He serves as a leading partner in early learning systems work at the county, regional and state level.

Gary has worked as a manager in state government in Washington and Oregon. His teams supported starting, expanding, and improving programs for children and their families. They also focused on continuous professional development of the workforce. Gary worked as a public policy researcher and advocated on early learning, asset building, and retirement policy.

He has a Master’s in Public Policy from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College.

 

Beth Schilling is the ECEAP Administrator for Child Care Action Council. She supervises the program which provides early childhood education and family support to low-income preschool children and their families. CCAC ECEAP serves 72 children in Lacey and 90 in Shelton.

Beth has been in the field of early childhood education and family support for 35 years. She has held leadership positions in a variety of settings, including 13 years in Head Start/ECEAP. She is passionate about access to quality early learning and the importance of family engagement, especially as it relates to school success and closing equity gaps for those farthest from opportunity.

Beth has a Master’s in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College and a Bachelor of Arts from The Evergreen State College.
